Property tax notices were sent out, and are due July 2, 2015.

Please check the top right hand section of your tax notice in the area marked "MORTGAGE COMPANY".  If there is a name in that section (CIBC, Royal Bank, etc), then a copy of the notice has been sent to that mortgage company.  If there is no name in that section and you think your mortgage company is paying your taxes for you, you should contact your mortgage company as a copy of the notice has not been sent to them directly by the Village Office.

Regardless of whether you are paying your taxes personally or your mortgage company is paying your taxes on your behalf, you still need to attend the Village Office to claim your Home Owner’s Grant.

The tax due date is Thursday, July 2, 2015.  Payment must be received in the Village Office by 4:00 pm on that date.

All current unpaid taxes, including Home Owner Grant portions, will be assessed a 10% late payment penalty after 4:00 pm on Thursday, July 2, 2015

There is interest accruing on all taxes in arrears and delinquent at the rate of 6.0% per annum from January 1, 2015 to the date of payment.  This amount is due in addition to the total shown on your tax notice.  This interest rate is set by the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

All delinquent tax amounts and their applicable interest must be paid in full by 10:00 am on Monday, September 28, 2015 or the property must be sold for tax sale at that time.

Please read the back sections of your tax notice to see if you qualify for a Home Owner Grant.  Home Owner Grants must be claimed yearly.

Village Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm exclusive of statutory holidays.

We will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in celebration of the Canada Day Statutory Holiday.

We do accept cheques post-dated to July 2, 2015 for payment of taxes which means you can claim your Home Owner Grant early and submit a cheque to the Village of Fraser Lake dated for July 2, 2015 so that you do not miss the deadline date.

Post marks on mailed remittances will not be considered as date of payment.  The date your payment is processed at the Village of Fraser Lake Office is the date the payment is received.

If you have any questions please call the Village Office at 250-699-6257.  We are happy to assist where we can.

WHAT: The Heart & Stroke Big Bike is an exciting fundraiser that is ideal for community organizations, companies and groups wishing to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Presented by the Dairy Farmers of Canada, the Heart & Stroke Big Bike is one of the primary community fundraising events for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. This fun-filled event earned its name from the 30-seat bicycle teams of energetic riders who pedal through 200 communities in nine provinces coast to coast – raising awareness and funds along the way.

Teams made up of up to 29 energetic riders, plus a driver each commit to raise a minimum of $50 and pedal through their community in support of heart disease and stroke research. This year we aim to raise 8.55 million dollars. Through events like Heart & Stroke Big Bike, we’re transforming how communities think about, prevent, manage and live with heart disease and stroke.

Come and cheer on your local community riders at our Big Bike event as they help make a difference by creating more survivors every day! Please look for opportunities in Fraser Lake to donate to these two amazing teams.

Visit www.bigbike.ca to learn more.

WHEN: Thursday, June 18 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

WHERE: The Big Bike will depart from Fraser Lake Elementary School – 110 Chowsunket Street, Fraser Lake, BC.

WHO: The Spirit of Fraser Lake Community team and the Fraser Lake Retailers team will be participating in this year’s Big Bike in Fraser Lake. But we have room for a few more riders!
