Tree Canada

In the spring of 2019 The Village of Fraser Lake submitted an application through BC Hydro Community Re-greening program.  The Village of Fraser Lake received $1800 towards a tree planting project.  Eleven trees were purchased and planted  throughout the community in the summer of 2019.  Mayor and Council would like to thank Tree Canada for their generous donation to the community.

Community Forest

The Village Mayor and Council are presently pursuing a Community Forest Agreement for the Village of Fraser Lake.  In British Columbia, a Community Forest can be described as any forestry operation managed by a Local Government, Community Group, or First Nations for the benefit of the entire community.  A Community  Forest will be very beneficial to our Village and surrounding area as it can generate revenue for the Community without increasing tax dollars to our citizens. The revenue from the Community Forest can be used to pay for projects that are needed and will not cost our taxpayers any extra money.

The following are some examples for which the money could be used towards:

*A Community bus for our seniors and handicapped to use.

*Our soccer fields and baseball fields are in need of work.

*Trail systems in and around The Village could be extended and enhanced.

*Parks could be beautified.

The Community Forest can create employment for our Village and help stabilize our region as well as regenerate a pine beetle ravaged forest back to green again.

The vision of this Mayor and Council is to make the Village of Fraser Lake a vibrant, healthy and safe place to live and raise our children.

For more information on the Community Forest, please feel free to contact myself at 250-699-6257, or our CAO, Rodney Holland at the Village Office at 250-699-6257.

Mayor, Sarrah Storey
