NOTICE OF NOMINATION

 

Public Notice is given to the electors of the Village of Fraser Lake that nominations will be accepted for the office of Councillor (1) for the remainder of the term and terminating 2018.

 

Nominations will be received at the Village of Fraser Lake, Municipal Office, 210 Carrier Crescent, Fraser Lake B.C. from 9:00am on Tuesday October 13th, 2015 to 4:00 pm on October 23rd 2015 by the Chief Elections Officer or the Deputy Chief Elections Officer. 

 

Qualifications for office

 

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

·       Canadian Citizen

·       18 years of age or older

·       Resident of British Columbia for a least 6 months immediately before the day nominations papers were filed

·       A person or the commander of an armed forces unit who has been granted freedom of the municipality, if that person is a Canadian Citizen

·       Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding offices

Organic waste - including kitchen scraps and yard trimmings - makes up 32% of the waste stream in the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN).  Help divert organic waste from our landfills and produce a rich soil environment for your garden....enjoy the benefits of composting.

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako will have a limited number of composting kits available to residents in each community.  The kits include an Earth Machine compost bin, and a composting mixing tool at a subsidized price of $40 (an $80 value).

Pre-purchase a kit by calling the RDBN at 1-800-320-3339.  A receipt must be presented in order to receive a kit on the pick-up date.  There are a limited number of quantities, so be sure to contact the RDBN soon.

White Swan Park

Calling all Community Members! We are giving White Swan Park a face lift on August 20th. It's a Helping Hand Initiative along with Spectra Energy and the Village. On Aug 20th we would like your help! We will be filling divots and holes along with laying sod, and will plant a commemorative tree. Starting at 10am we will meet there and hope with your help, to have a community work bee and get the job done. The Village of Fraser Lake will provide you with all that you need including a FREE BBQ to thank you for you time and community spirit!
